In addition to education, we offer other programs that empower our community.

We designed YAH’s programs to address both immediate and long-term needs and allow young people and children to go to school, to become gainfully employed, responsible community members and to reduce the prevalence of crime, drugs, teenage pregnancy and poverty in our community. In other words, we want to stop problems before they start.
We work together with both national and international organizations to amplify our impact and overcome limitations. By pooling our resources and skills, we can achieve more than we could alone. Together, these efforts form a robust framework that not only addresses the current needs of children and young people but also lays the foundation for a brighter and more resilient future.
Discipleship
Building a beloved community

Appolon began attending Chapel Rock Christian Church worship services the second week of October 2024. Shortly thereafter, Appolon and his brother-in-law. Frisnet Pierre, agreed to become official members of the church. They completed a three-week training program to deepen their understanding of the doctrine. Eager to be actively involved, Appolon approached his sister in Christ, Uta Milewsky, to ask how he could contribute his talents to the growth of the church.
The CRCC elders met and decided to appoint Appolon and Frisnet as pastor to lead the Chapel Rock Haitian community. However, Appolon, whose family and ministry are still in Haiti, decided to return there to care for his family and continue his youth ministry. The CRCC elders gave him permission to continue his spiritual guidance in the Maliarette community in Pignon, Haiti, using the same methods he learned at Chapel Rock Christian Church in 2025.
In conjunction with Chapel Rock Christian Church of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, we will hold weekly sermon-based discussion groups to disciple people in our Haitian community.
WELL and MELL
In January 2025, Appolon was admitted to Level 4 (the highest level available) at WELL (Westside English Language Learning in Indianapolis, IN, USA). He graduated in May of the same year and was appointed as a coach for the following session. However, Appolon will leave the USA and start conducting English classes in Haiti following the WELL model. In Haiti, WELL will change into MELL (Maliarette English Language Learning) to serve children and young people.
Problem solving
Children at Risk: Our School provides structure, supervision, and access to support systems that help protect children. When a child is out of school, these protective factors are removed, exposing them to greater risk. We currently have 250 children in our program but can accommodate up to 500 if we receive more scholarship support. Many children have to stay home because their parents can’t afford school tuition. For many children in our region, the closest public school is more than a one-hour walk away.
Poverty: Women’s Empowerment, our microloan program, specifically aims to help women, recognizing their potential as key drivers of economic growth and development. It goes beyond providing just funding; it includes essential business education, financial literacy training, and mentorship to help borrowers succeed. The main objective is to expand small income, and potentially lift themselves and their families out of poverty. The microloans have improved the lives of the women.
- Women are empowered by having their own finances
- With their own finances, women can make decisions in the home
- Women lost their babies because they had no transportation to health facilities if their husband was away. Now, they can use their savings in emergencies.
- Microloans have increased women’s self-esteem. Although the husband is still the head of the household.
