In accordance with the teachings of Christ, we work to build Haitian communities by empowering the psychologically and socially marginalized, promoting well-being, and supporting youth and children to be self-sufficient, and spiritually mature leaders.

Our Story

Youth Action for Haiti was created from the vision and determination of supporting youth and children and giving them a chance to grow, to be like Jesus and become self-sufficient and spiritually mature leaders. As a young man, our founder, Appolon Elysée Paul, Experienced firsthand the devastating effects of political turmoil in Haiti, which shaped his commitment to making a difference. These experiences profoundly impacted Appolon and ignited his passion for advocacy and humanitarian work.

For many years, the Haitian people have faced severe and complex political crisis. The combination of gang violence, economic collapse, and political instability has created a severe humanitarian crisis. Despite the numerous obstacles that Appolon and his family have endured, his efforts remained centered on the children and families suffering risk of violence, abuse, poor health outcomes and limited opportunities for education. This drive led him to channel his personal struggles into a local mission for change.

While Haiti faced different political outcomes, Appolon founded Youth Action for Haiti to create lasting change for children and young people. The grassroots movement quickly gained traction, transforming into a nationally recognized organization dedicated to supporting children and young people in Haiti.

Our work aims to bring positive change by supporting the needs and preparing young girls and boys with information and opportunities that can allow for self-sufficiency and independency.

YAH identifies specific and urgent areas where young girls and boys are seriously disadvantaged and receive little attention and where they lack basics needs to empower them to a level where they can bring about significant change in their communities.
